Gary & Jill Pre Wedding Photography

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

All week the weather had been fine and then on the day of the pre wedding photography it was forecast to rain! Just typical, however it all held off long enough for us to enjoy our time together and capture some moments to cherish for Gary and Jill.  As is usual they both told us they didn’t really like having their photograph taken but when it came to the moment they excelled themselves.  Jill laughs all the time which is just great when you want to capture happy times.  We had arranged to meet at Sizergh Castle at 10:00am but when we got there discovered it didn’t open until 11:00am.  So off we went to find alternative locations for the first hour.  As you will see we ended up in a field full of cows where one extremely large cow seemed not to be too happy that we were there shooting photographs.  So the moment captured in camera where Gary and Jill have their back to the beast was quickly displaced by the four of us getting out of the field rather quickly as it seemed intent on getting a bit too close for comfort.  We have one more set of Gary & Jill to load up as well as a separate Album on our Facebook business page which you can find under steves schtuff or Lake District Wedding Photographer (or just click the ‘Like’ button on the right of this screen).

Many thanks this week to Claire after the referral for Fiona and Joe’s wedding on 27th August.  We are looking forward to the day and have just managed to sort out a pre wedding photography shoot for the 7th August, so will have to get our skates on producing a Signature Board for the happy couple.

I thought I would share some more photographs with you from Sam & Brogan’s wedding as a follow up from your Cumbria Wedding Photographer.  This week we were out shooting Gary and Jill on a pre wedding day and found some great new locations including the gardens at Sizergh Castle.  It is amazing how many new places you can find around Cumbria if you are prepared to travel along the narrow and off beat country lanes.  Gary and Jill’s should be up by the end of next week and we are looking forward to the wedding in October which is being held in Ireleth.  Jill told us that it is right on the coast road so we are hoping for a good sunset.

It always surprises me how different we all are in likes and dislikes, none more so than in the wedding photographs we choose as our favourites.  After a shoot I always try to guess which ones the Bride and Groom will choose for their Wedding Album and mark as their favourites on the Client Gallery.  I never get it right and probably that is because a photograph means different things to each viewer.  Whereas I may choose an image that for me conveys the magic of the day, for the married couple it may convey something completely different.  I guess that is why the art of photography is so compelling because we all see different meanings within an image.  For the Schtuff Blog I select the photographs that I hope will give a good feel for the style of photography that I produce on behalf of each couple, after consulting before the event to understand your likes and dislikes.  So if you are viewing this Blog with a view to booking Schtuff to carry out your wedding photography have a look at all the wedding blogs that can be found on the right of the screen under the heading Photography Categories.  Just a final reminder that we are exhibiting at the Westmorland Shopping Centre this coming Friday and Saturday.  We will have lots of Albums to look at and a running slideshow with images from weddings this year.  Come and say hello.

For those of you who follow this Cumbria Wedding Photographers Blog you may remember Sam & Brogans pre wedding shoot a few weeks ago when they gave us a brief to produce an earthy and rustic look for their Signature Board and accompanying DVD.  For their wedding itself we wanted to produce a mixture of romantic ‘of the moment’ images and some more earthy and vintage feel photography.  The day before the wedding we set off to look for some unique and individual locations that would keep the vintage photography theme whilst reflecting some of the ‘urbanism’ of the earlier shoot.  With the help of a friend we found some really good places although as those of you who live in The Lake District will know the heavens opened up once more on Friday and we were forced to abandon some of our ideas for this shoot.  Still it means we have something in reserve for the future!  After we had seen to all the formal group shots we set off down the back lanes of Staveley, stopping off for refreshments that Ruth had prepared earlier in the morning.  The Bride and Groom always seem to appreciate this opportunity to recharge their batteries before the serious photography begins.  It was a great day and hopefully everyone will be really happy with the results.

So what is new this week in the world of Schtuff?  Well on Friday we are meeting up with Gary and Jill at Sizergh Castle for a pre wedding shoot with the wedding itself to follow in early October.  I have visited the Castle and Grounds but never to photograph there so am really excited about the possibilities.  The following week we are exhibiting again at Westmorland Shopping Centre on Friday and Saturday so please stop by and say hello.
