Cumbria Wedding Photographer and HRH Prince Charles Visit to Cumbria

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

This was certainly a very different proposition from shooting weddings as I was commissioned to photograph HRH Prince Charles visit in Staveley, specifically to More Bakery.  From a photographers viewpoint a different set of challenges as there is no opportunity to set up shots, you just have to be ready to take whatever photographs you can get.  Of course Prince Charles is surrounded by many people on his visits some of whom you would not choose to argue with!  His Press Secretary was very helpful however and with his assistance it proved to be a successful shoot.  The Prince spent a lot of time with Patrick at More Bakery and was clearly impressed with what has been achieved there. Of course now having photographed Royalty all my prices for weddings have doubled. Just kidding. Cumbria Commercial Photographer in Scotland

Friday, January 13th, 2012

I was recently up in a beautiful part of Scotland on a commercial shoot at a remote holiday cottage in a place known as Ardechive.  The cottage is directly opposite Loch Arkaig and along a 15 mile single track road which leads into the mountains.  The commercial aspect of the shoot was to take photographs of the property and surrounding areas to update the Owners website which you can find at http://www.ardechive-locharkaig.co.uk.  Now at this point I have to confess we did not get the job finished and will be going back in the Spring to complete the assignment.  On the day we arrived the Loch had risen so high it had flooded the road into the Glen up to 2′ feet of water.  Having travelled so far we decided to go for it and breathed in deeply as we travelled through with a bow wave that was as high as the windows on the car.  Overnight the rain continued and so for the following two days we could not get out.  Then after one days break the Weather Bomb hit the Glen with winds up to 165mph. The trees were snapping like twigs and the electric went off and remained off for four days leaving us with no hot water or heat other than the log fire in the lounge.  Having survived that we then had one day of power before the next storm hit. The power went off again and was due to stay off for several days so we decided enough was enough and headed home.  However you must not let this put you off taking a holiday there as the cottage is fantastic and the countryside stunning.

Cumbria Commercial Photographer in Manchester & Ashton

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Earlier this year I was contracted to supply a portfolio of commercial photographs for a Lawyers practice based in Manchester and Ashton.  Part of the brief was to capture some images of the local scenes and landmarks that could be used on their new website and printed for use in the offices themselves.  These are just a few of the images we made. You might recognise some of the sights which include the Law Courts, Filing Cabinet, the Wheel and Barton Arcade in Manchester, the Basin and bronze images on the street of Ashton.
