I recently acquired two Arri lights and like any man with a new toy wanted to try them out as soon as possible. Bob and Margaret volunteered to be the subjects of my first foray into Arri so we packed the car and set off to their house. The one thing I had not realised was how powerful these lights are, Bob immediately broke out in a sweat whilst Margaret seemed to cope quite well. Arri’s provide continual light and once mastered can produce some very moody and glamorous photography (I am not saying I have mastered them yet – I need willing volunteers to practice on!). This makes them ideal for wedding photography when shooting indoors and I am looking forward to improving the range of photography I can deliver so will get plenty of practise before our first wedding this year which is in early February. Courtney volunteered to be photographed as well and the shots below of her were taken with Nikons Creative Lighting system. January is a good month to try out all this new technology as already in February we have two lifestyle shoots, a wedding and a Wedding Fayre. If you would like to meet up with us we will be exhibiting at the Stonecross Manor Wedding Fayre Kendal Cumbria and the Inn On The Lake Wedding Fayre Ullswater Cumbria.

I was delighted to be asked to form a partnership with Kendal College in the launch of their Make Over Day offer. The idea is for the College to raise funds to continue the development of their infrastructure. So you book yourself in for a make over and then I come along to take some memorable photographs for you. The shoot itself for the photographs below was interesting to say the least. The original plan was that I would have an hour to produce a full set of photographs for each of the four models, a pretty stiff task to accomplish. Due to circumstances beyond control I actually had just fifteen minutes in total – a massive four minutes with each model! I had already set up my mobile studio in the College building so we just had to work extremely quickly to get the right images for the posters that are going to advertise the service around the college.
In actual fact it reminded me very much of the Cumbria Wedding Photography I undertake where every image has to be captured instantly and posing must be done without fuss. I let you be the judge whether the images worked! Don’t forget that if you live in or around Kendal that I will be exhibiting my work and Albums in Westmorland Shopping Centre on the 4th and 5th February (Friday and Saturday this week). So come along and introduce yourself. I will be delighted to book for you as a Cumbria Wedding Photographer, family photographer, portrait photographer or produce a Model Portfolio. My stand will be near the Argos store. Look forward to meeting you.

Shelley has not got long to go, around 3 weeks at the time of writing. Sometimes it can be a little bit daunting for a Mum To Be to get in front of a camera but it didn’t take Shelley long to get into the spirit of it. Shelley’s Mum and Dad own MGD Commercial and Motor Services in Kendal, Cumbria so for those of you who are local to the area there can be no better place to get your motor serviced, at least that’s what Mark has told me! Jane, Shelley’s Mum, is not a fan of having her photograph taken but Mark (Jane’s Husband) said she looked absolutely fantastic. He’s so smooth with the chat.
So for a Cumbria Wedding Photographer this was a little bit different. I set up my mobile studio in Mum’s house so that everyone would be comfortable and we shot a nice little portfolio that Shelley will be able to look back on in years to come and remember the first of what she tells me will be many – well she didn’t say that but her Mum is hoping!
