If you have been following us on Facebook you may have seen that under our business page, Lake District Wedding Photographer aka Schtuff, we have launched this new service.  This is for people who are interested in photography, perhaps already earning a living in photography, but want to improve their skills.  We have called it Photography Training Studio  Day.   When you see normal commercial photography training you will first of all find it far more expensive.  You will also be sharing the training session with a large group, usually between 10 to 12 other photographers.  It can be a bit of a rugby scrum as you try and take your images.  When you see one to one training this is far more effective but again you will find the charge anything up to £1,000 per day.  Our normal charge for this service will be £400, however to launch it we have  reduced it to half price for any Booking made by May 31st. The date you book for may be anytime in 2013 but the actual booking must be made by the end of May.  Are you a photography hobbyist or an amateur or just turned professional? Do you want to improve your wedding photography? Do you want to master Flash? Would you like to spend a day in a Studio with me on a one to one basis. I am taking bookings now for just £200 to spend a day in Schtuff Studio’s. This is an introductory offer to promote this new service and will be available for a limited period. The Studio is located in Oxenholme and I have a number of different lighting systems you can practice with including Bowens Gemini 500 Studio Flashlights, Arri Continuous lights, Heidler Continuous Lights Nikon Speedlights with Pocket Wizards and Nikons Wireless Control system, Ice Style Light, Flat Panel Light and Lowell ID Video light. On a slightly different subject a common theme that runs through Couples that book us for Wedding Photography is that they are camera shy.  Many feel that because they feel so unsure of themselves they should only have informal or journalistic photography.  Whilst we would never impose our thoughts on any couple we can help you achieve some memorable images with just a little coaching.  We ourselves have studied with and been trained by some of the worlds leading wedding photographers and we can pass on to you the skills we have been able to develop.  This is one of the reasons we really like to carry out a Pre Wedding photoshoot.  Whilst we can have lots of fun on these shoots we can also coach you how to appear at your very best on a photograph. Brides particularly can feel self conscious about body size and facial profile.  All of this can be addressed and improved on during the Pre Wedding photoshoot.  Ruth and I are very happy to help you with this because we want you wedding photographs to be outstanding..  The Wedding day cannot be repeated so just as you prepare meticulously for the Wedding Day so we should do the same for the Wedding photography.

I don’t think Nyki and Craig had expected to get so involved themselves but when you have all the family members together why not go for it!  This was the first time that as Family Photographers Cumbria we had been able to use the outside locations of the Victorian house and farm where our Studio is located.  Although it was yet another freezing cold day the family were up for it and we managed to get some photographs before we all turned into blocks of ice.  Mum and Dad are quite rightly proud of their Son and Daughter who impressed us greatly with their co-operation and manner.

We recently received a new Swatch book from them which contains samples of every cover, colour, page type and thickness that you can choose from to personalise your own Wedding Album.  Cover materials include Leather, Cowhide, Nappa Leather, Silk, Metal and Crystal Glance (which is the one Rob and Nicki chose).   Along with this we have ordered 3 new sample Albums for you to be able to see when you visit us.

It was a pleasure to photograph alongside one of the UK’s leading fashion and lifestyle photographers, John Denton, in London recently as he took around a dozen photographers along the Embankment with three very brave girls.  It was a bitterly cold evening when we met up with Nikki and her two girl friends , so as I Blog these images if you notice they are a little bit blue or huddled inside warm scarves then you know why. Working along the Embankment for the first time was quite an experience as I quickly realised freedom to photograph is not a given.  We first of all stopped on the patio of a public building and were descended on by three large Security Guards who ‘ushered’ us away from the area.  That happened in three different spots we were using. I know there has been a lot of debate in photographers forums about this with some photographers having their equipment confiscated. Fortunately this did not happen to us! A little later on in the evening we went into a graffiti skateboard area to take some urban style images and immediately were harassed by one individual who seemed to think this public area belonged to him.  After a while he disappeared only to return minutes later with some mates who proceeded to splatter us with eggs!  I thought this kind of treatment was reserved for politicians!  Having said all that we did get some great photographs with key London landmarks, including the London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament as backdrops.  Many thanks to the girls who stuck at it with us for around 6 hours as we clicked away.  This set is of Nikki who you can find linked with me on Facebook under my page Lake District Wedding Photographer.  There will be two more Blogs for each of the other girls over the next two weeks so enjoy!

The post Fashion Lifestyle Photoshoot Embankment London with Nikki appeared first on Schtuff Photography Blog.

For those who are interested in the technical side of photography all these images were taken with just one light.  Although we have a full selection of lights sometimes keeping it simple just works better.  In this photoshoot I particularly wanted to improve my skills in the Hollywood ‘glamour’ lighting which has become very much in demand.  Netherwood lent itself to that approach with all the nooks and crannies and classic features around the Hotel.  Andrea told us that whoever had done her wedding photographs a couple of years before she hadn’t been impressed with them so of course we were under pressure to deliver something she could cherish in years to come.  Laura and Paulina brought the little ones along as well so we got to do a little ‘child’ photography as well.  So there are lots of images to Blog from this photoshoot going forward.
